Chocolate Stout Cupcakes and a Thank You

Today gave me an excuse to make cupcakes. And I love making cupcakes. Excuse, you wonder? You’re exactly right… since when have I needed an excuse to bake anything? But the motivation for these treats was especially tempting- a birthday. A birthday for twins, actually, so that made it doubly fun.

These Chocolate Stout Cupcakes are made with rich dark molasses, orange juice and zest, nutmeg, cinnamon and… a Young’s Double Chocolate Stout. Jam-packed with flavor but not too sweet.Β The icing is a 77% cocoa dark chocolate lightened with whipped egg whites. And just a tiny bit of butter. Tiny.

TinyKitchenStories, a fellow blogger, posted these cupcakes in early February, and I’ve been waiting for a legitimate reason to bake them ever since.   1. New Belgium has an AMAZING cocoa mole beer that would be perfect for this recipe! Please tell me you’ve enjoyed a stout float πŸ˜‰

    • Whoa. I am sipping that very beer right now, and YES it needs to go with chocolate!! Sadly, in my hotel room, all I could find was a chocolate cherry cashew Kind bar, but it was better than no chocolate. I am definitely gonna make these cupcakes and serve them with the Cocoa Mole!

  2. Looks like a Choccy kind of day! Chocolate stout is like the new fashion, sadly I seem to drink all my stout before I can cook with it but I’m going to wait for a special occasion before I try these too πŸ™‚ I bet our friends went nuts when they had these, the frosting looks so frosty!!! Lol πŸ™‚ light and fluffy is what I meant!
