about bud blog

Goals for the Terrified Tastebud blog are simple.

  • I was completely amazed at how many people, when learning my plans, also have the secret dream of going toΒ school for Culinary Arts or Pastry Arts. I plan to share as much as possible about the experience, tips and tricks, the science of food cookery, and, of course, recipes.
  • Many friends and family members would like to follow my transition into the culinary world and this provides an efficient way for me to communicate with a larger audience.
  • Food writing is one of my ultimate goals, and to become a better writer, I must write! You are now what is keeping me accountable. So, thank you!

Every photo I post will be my own unless otherwise noted. I will always welcome and appreciate constructive feedback for the Terrified Tastebud.

  1. So brilliant!!! Thank you for your wonderful site, it’s incredibly encouraging and so wonderful to hear it’s never too late to follow your dreams and ambitions whatever they may be!!! I look forward to being inspired by your cooking!

  2. Wow, I am so impressed! You had the guts to do what I don’t–sign up for culinary school. I want to at least do the 1-week course up at the CIA in Napa this year. I am really excited to follow your blog. Thank you for sharing your experiences!

    • A 1-week course with CIA in Napa sounds wonderful… on so many levels! You should do it for sure! I’m perusing your site more right now and really enjoying not only you’re recipes (grocery list for stout chocolate cupcakes has already been made) but also your writing style. Lovely!

      • Thank you–that means a lot. And let me know how the cupcakes turn out! And the frosting. It’s so nervewracking, but I’m sure your culinary school experience has helped in that regard.

The Husband and I have the CIA course on the budget for this year. My dad did it and really enjoyed it.

Gosh, now I’ve got the smell of those cupcakes in my head. Heaven!

  3. I was impressed by your skill and passion for the culinary arts, something I personally share. Your creativity with the vingerette dressing was certainly worth the wait. You made the opportunity for observing you and your classmates exciting, friendly and insightful. Thanks to you and your classmates for the wonderful experience. Thank Chef Steve for me. Good luck on your transition. You have reinspired my own desire to seek professional culinary training!

    • Hello! I’m so glad you found me here, and even happier that you took a day to come observe class! I can tell that you have a passion for all things food… and it’s awesome that you happened to be here when you did so you were able to experience so much tasting and critiquing πŸ™‚
If we inspired you even a little, then I’m truly thrilled! I’ll definitely pass along today to Chef and the rest of class your thanks. Feel free to shoot me questions, observations, updates- whatever- anytime.
